Ukrhydroenergo Suffered Over 140 Russian Missile Strikes

The Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Ukrhydroenergo, Valentyn Hvozdyi, reported that Ukrhydroenergo's facilities suffered over 140 Russian missile strikes. He stated this during a meeting of the OSCE Economic and Environmental Committee, which was dedicated to the topic "The Importance of Developing Capabilities and Decision-Making Based on Risk Analysis to Enhance Prevention and Risk Management of Natural Disasters."

The destruction of the Kakhovka HPP led to the loss of 335 MW of renewable energy capacity and deterioration of water supply in the region. In particular, 94% of the irrigation systems in Kherson, 74% in Zaporizhzhia region, and 30% in Dnipropetrovsk have been lost. The total loss amounts to 18 billion cubic meters of water, equivalent to two years of water supply for Ukraine, emphasized Hvozdyi.

He also noted that the total damage from the missile strikes exceeds several billion dollars.

Hvozdyi explained that the company is forced to change its development plans and focus on strengthening infrastructure security, using the experiences of South Korea and Japan, who have also faced aggression from neighboring countries.

"We are doing everything possible to protect our facilities, and this experience will be invaluable in the future,"

he concluded.
