Joint production and expanded supplies: Ukraine and the US finalize a Patriot missile agreement.
Strengthening air defense through US-Ukraine collaboration
According to 5 канал — Політика: As Russia continues its aerial bombardment of Ukrainian infrastructure, securing more advanced air defense systems has become a top priority for Kyiv. Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi announced the outcomes of a recent meeting with representatives from Raytheon, the manufacturer of Patriot systems, highlighting plans to accelerate missile deliveries and launch joint production of air defense assets.
The talks involved Acting Defense Minister Yevgeniy Khmara, while Raytheon’s vice president for land and air defense led the US company’s delegation. Discussions centered on expediting the supply of interceptor missiles for the Patriot platforms.
“The main topics were bolstering Ukraine’s air shield ahead of the autumn‑winter season and advancing the country’s own defense‑industrial base.”

Participants also focused on localizing weapons production inside Ukraine. Donald Trump confirmed that Washington is ready to provide Kyiv with licenses to manufacture Patriot systems domestically. Each PAC‑3 interceptor costs roughly $5 million. Koretskyi added that “the American side has already proposed concrete steps to implement the project,” signaling positive momentum in bilateral defense cooperation.
Outlook for defense‑industry ties
By deepening its partnership with the United States, Ukraine aims not only to enhance its own defensive capabilities but also to integrate into global defense supply chains. This strategic collaboration, which includes both immediate deliveries and long‑term co‑production, could contribute to lasting regional stability.
