Expert names the most effective sanctions against Russia: what can stop the war.
According to inkorr.com: Economist Oleg Ustenko believes that sanctions against the energy sector of Russia, especially oil, are an effective tool for pressure. Although he warns that one should not expect a rapid collapse of the Russian economy, constant pressure on this sector can significantly undermine the Kremlin's ability to finance the war.
'Some of them are just, well, simply fantastically primitive, like let's refuse to buy Russian caviar... and ban the sale of Russian vodka. I'm not saying that this shouldn't have been done, it's symbolic, but it looks more like a symbolic spit in the face or... a slap on the wrist, no more,' Ustenko noted.
He also noted that financial sanctions have proven to be the most effective in influencing the Russian economy. The most vulnerable segment remains energy, as it is the main source of income for the Russian budget. This sector also causes significant nervous effects in the Russian government, as it is key to the stability of the economy and regime in the country.
Sanctions against the energy sector, especially in the context of modern war, are becoming crucial in transforming the economic landscape. Understanding their impact on Kremlin financing underscores the importance of international unity on sanctions policy. Responsible decisions can significantly affect the state of affairs in Russia and its ability to pursue aggressive policies on the world stage.
