Starting from the beginning of 2026, electric cars in Ukraine will significantly increase in price due to the abolition of tax benefits on their import.

According to inkorr.com: According to information from the All-Ukrainian Association of Automobile Importers and Dealers and the Institute of Market Research, the cost of electric cars will rise by at least 20-30%, reducing their price advantage over traditional cars. Currently, there is no value-added tax and customs duty on the import of electric cars into Ukraine, and additional costs are limited to only a small excise duty.

Consequences of the abolition of benefits

Starting from January 1, 2026, these preferences will be abolished, which may lead to an increase in the price of electric cars by 30% or even by 20% if manufacturers introduce discounts for the Ukrainian market.

According to data from Romania, after the end of the benefits on the import of electric cars, their sales volumes fell by 30%. In Ukraine, it is expected that in the coming months the demand for electric cars will rise, as the general director of the All-Ukrainian Association of Automobile Importers and Dealers plans to import the maximum number of electric cars to meet market needs.

The market situation

Despite the fact that significant price advantages from electric car manufacturers are not expected after the New Year, official importers are already offering significant discounts for Ukrainian consumers, taking into account the lower purchasing power of the population compared to European countries.

Thus, the availability of electric cars for Ukrainian buyers will decrease due to the abolition of import benefits, leading to a significant increase in prices for these cars. At the same time, importers promise to make efforts to bring as many electric cars as possible to the Ukrainian market and offer discounts to stimulate demand.
