Thomas Tuchel explained England's poor performance against Andorra: pointed out the reason.
Tuchel's comments on the match
According to The Sun: Thomas Tuchel blamed the poor performance of the England national team against Andorra on the very low atmosphere in the stadium.
The England team played at Villa Park in the West Midlands, as Wembley was unavailable.
ReutersTuchel fielded an experimental lineup, and Eliota Anderson made his debut in midfield.
England only began to find their rhythm after the 25th minute when the opponent made a mistake.
Declan Rice scored with a header in the second half, but England failed to create many dangerous chances despite having 83% possession.
Tuchel expressed satisfaction with the performance but admitted that the team could have involved the fans more.
“It’s not easy – the crowd here is completely different from Premier League matches,”
“I think we could have lifted the mood, but it’s a completely different matter, and we know that.”
“But I think the energy was right, the quality was there, we should have scored more goals,”
Plans for the future
Tuchel expects a more “emotional” atmosphere during the next match against Serbia in Belgrade.
“We will try to prove that we can win and show a different performance, being resilient in such circumstances,”
“We expect a very emotional stadium, emotional fans. We may have to adapt to the circumstances.”
Tuchel pointed to the physicality of the opponent:
“We are dealing with a very physical team, they play man-to-man. They have high-quality forwards – at the international level.”
“They play very simply, so we need to adapt to the circumstances and show that we are a strong group on the right path.”
Tuchel is confident in the team's preparation:
