Mark Ramprakash managed to avoid a driving ban
According to The Sun: Former English cricketer Mark Ramprakash has avoided a driving ban, emphasizing that he needs a car for his charitable work.
Ramprakash was trying to keep his driving privileges after being caught driving at 60 miles per hour in a zone where only 50 miles per hour is allowed.
PA:Empics SportIt was noted in court that the 56-year-old Ramprakash needs a car to care for his elderly parents and for charity work. He is a patron of the organization One Kind Act and an ambassador for the NGO Anthony Nolan, which deals with stem cells.
In addition, Ramprakash supports the Sports Relief initiative. In January he was caught on camera driving his Kia Sportage on the M1 motorway near Mansfield.
A winner of the Strictly Come Dancing show, Ramprakash, who is now the cricket director at Harrow School in London, admitted to speeding and received three penalty points.
At Derby County Court, he managed to avoid a ban, but he must pay a fine and costs totaling £502 by November 5.
Ramprakash is known for two centuries in 52 Tests, although he was considered one of the most technical batsmen of his generation. He later became England's batting coach but was dismissed in 2019, replaced by the late Graham Thorpe.
In 2006, along with dance professional Karen, 55, Ramprakash won the Strictly show, beating former English rugby player Matt Dawson and Lilia Kopylova in the final.
In 2008, he also triumphed in a special Sport Relief Strictly episode, performing the samba.
