Simon Grayson's departure from Hartlepool

According to The Sun: Simon Grayson has been relieved of his duties as head coach of Hartlepool United due to the team's disappointing results.

The 55-year-old specialist, who previously played in the Premier League for Aston Villa and Leicester City, joined the club only in June.

After the team managed only one win in the last 11 matches, the club's management decided to take action.

“Hartlepool United Football Club has today parted company with manager Simon Grayson.”

“Following discussions yesterday evening and a board meeting this morning, it became clear that expectations with performances and results have not been met.”

“Obtaining one win in the last 11 games falls short of the required standard; therefore, the Board of Directors have collectively made the extremely difficult decision to relieve Simon of his duties.”

“The Board wishes to thank Simon for his efforts and wish him the very best in his future endeavours.”

“Nicky Featherstone, aided by Elliott Dickman and Adam Smith, will take control of the team for the interim period, starting with Tuesday night’s FA Cup Replay at home to Gainsborough Trinity.”

Grayson leaves the club with Hartlepool sitting in 12th place in the National League.

Under his management, the team won four out of 14 matches, however, they scored only 13 goals during this period.

The team's results significantly declined after a promising start, where they earned 10 points from the first four matches.

A 1-1 draw with Gainsborough Trinity in the fourth qualifying round of the FA Cup was the last straw for Grayson.

This was Grayson's ninth managerial position in English clubs; he previously worked at Leeds, Preston, and Sunderland, and also has experience in India and Nepal before returning to England with Hartlepool.

The managerial change at Hartlepool underscores the importance of results in professional football. The club is seeking a new approach to improve its play and position in the table, especially after a prolonged period of failure. In a competitive environment, the team hopes to find new life to get back on the winning path.
