The President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, plans to present his 'peace proposal' to end the war between Russia and Ukraine at the G20 summit. This was reported by Bloomberg, citing sources close to the Turkish president. According to the report, Erdogan intends to propose freezing the conflict along current front lines and postponing discussions regarding Ukraine's NATO membership for the next 10 years. He also proposes creating a demilitarized zone in Donbas and deploying international forces there. While the Kyiv government may find it difficult to accept such a proposal, Turkish officials believe it is the most realistic approach.
According to Bloomberg, Turkey hopes to convince Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to participate in peace talks in Istanbul, as they have acquired intelligence data indicating possible large territorial losses for Ukraine in the coming months if hostilities continue. However, the Kremlin stated that such a proposal would be unacceptable to Russia. Putin's spokesperson confirmed that the conditions outlined by Vladimir Putin in June for ending the war remain relevant: the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from occupied territories and a renunciation of NATO membership.
