The Head of the EU Trade Representation Supports the Start of Negotiations with the USA Regarding Tariffs on European Goods
The Head of the EU Trade Representation Maros Sefcovic stated that the European Union wishes to immediately start negotiations with the United States regarding tariffs on European goods proposed by President Trump. He announced this during a meeting of EU ministers dedicated to discussing trade and competitiveness issues. Sefcovic expressed hope that such early engagement in negotiations would help avoid unpleasant consequences for trade and investment relations. He emphasized that the EU is ready for active cooperation and solving this issue through constructive discussion.
Representatives of the European Union note that they have limited contacts with the Trump administration as candidates for positions cannot communicate with foreign counterparts until they are confirmed.
