Brussels Prepares New Report on Ukraine: What to Expect from the EU.
According to inkorr.com: Brussels is preparing a new report that examines the possibilities for the expansion of the European Union. The EU ambassador to Ukraine, Katarina Maternova, urged Ukraine to continue reforms despite the absence of a Europe-wide consensus on starting negotiations on various fronts.
The Influence of Ukraine on the Expansion Process
Maternova emphasized that Ukraine's participation in the accession process has significantly changed Europe's approaches to expansion. She also noted that Ukraine has become an example of significant transformations, even in the conditions of war, setting new standards for other candidate countries.
'We have a process, but countries pretended to reform, and we pretended to move towards expansion. It might have been a bit of a cynical summary of the past years. But everything has fundamentally changed. ... the whole idea of EU expansion became something that the system started to work on. It has benefited everyone.'
Prospects for Expansion
The ambassador noted that while Brussels may not be as ready for expansion as Ukraine had hoped, positive changes in the EU accession process will already become noticeable.
The new European Commission report is expected to contain detailed recommendations for Ukraine regarding the next steps in its European integration.
Thus, Ukraine continues to be at the center of attention of the European community, demonstrating progress in reforming and adapting to European standards. Support from the EU remains crucial for the country's further development on the path to European integration.
