Peace negotiations in Ukraine

According to UATV: The European Union may appoint its representative for peace negotiations in Ukraine. This was stated by representatives of France and Italy, who advocate for a more active role for Europe in resolving the conflict. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed his openness to direct negotiations between European states and Russia, noting that this is particularly relevant in the context of pressure from the USA and discussions on security guarantees for Ukraine.

In his interview with Bloomberg, Zelensky noted:

“I am not against Europe negotiating with Russia, especially now when the USA exerts pressure, and Europe has begun to speak about security guarantees.”
This statement reflects Ukraine's readiness for dialogue, which may have significant consequences for the further development of the situation in the region.

G7 leaders meeting in Davos

In light of these events, the leaders of the G7 countries plan to hold a meeting in Davos next week, specifically on January 21, when an important meeting with Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky will take place at the World Economic Forum. Discussions are planned on treaties critically important to prevent the recurrence of war, emphasizing the significance of international support and cooperation in resolving the conflict.

According to reports, about 2400 civilians died in Ukraine in 2025 due to Russian attacks, and nearly 12,000 were injured. Overall, since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, approximately 15,000 civilians have died, including 758 children. These figures underline the seriousness of the situation and the necessity for effective peace initiatives to ensure security and stability in the region.

Davos will take place from January 19 to 23, and the outcomes of the leaders' meeting may significantly influence the further developments in Ukraine, particularly regarding peace negotiations and international commitments to support the Ukrainian people.

The meeting in Davos will serve as an important platform for discussing key security issues in Ukraine and possible ways to resolve the conflict. Involving European states in negotiations could open new perspectives for the peace process, as Europe's active role in this situation may become a crucial factor in ensuring stability in the region. The experience of previous negotiations and the scale of the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine emphasize the need for urgent actions from the international community.
