According to Слово і Діло — Інфографіка: In 2022, the European Union imported 310,000 tonnes of chocolate and chocolate-based products, with more than 32,000 tonnes of that total originating from Ukraine. This figure marks the largest share of Ukrainian chocolate imports in the EU over the past 11 years.

Ukrainian chocolate exports to the EU have shown steady growth in recent years. In 2014, Ukraine sent 5,100 tonnes of chocolate to the EU, valued at €10.5 million. By 2015, volumes had risen to 8,100 tonnes worth €16 million, and in 2016, exports reached 9,500 tonnes valued at €19.8 million. In 2017, Ukraine exported 13,100 tonnes of chocolate worth €29.8 million, reflecting a clear upward trend.

Export Trends from 2018 to 2025

Between 2018 and 2021, exports continued to climb. In 2018, Ukraine shipped 17,400 tonnes valued at €42.1 million. The following year, exports increased to 20,700 tonnes worth €50.9 million, and in 2020, they reached 21,800 tonnes valued at €56.5 million. By 2021, Ukraine exported 23,200 tonnes of chocolate worth €62.1 million.

Despite the challenges posed by war, Ukraine exported 18,700 tonnes of chocolate in 2022, valued at €59.2 million. In 2023, exports grew to 24,400 tonnes worth €84.4 million. Projections indicate that in 2024, Ukraine will export over 29,000 tonnes, with a value increase exceeding 9.4%. By 2025, Ukraine's share of total tonnage is expected to rise to 32,700 tonnes, valued at €146.6 million.
