EU allocates 2 billion euros for drones for Ukraine: details of the decision.
According to inkorr.com: European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced that the European Union will allocate two billion euros for the development of unmanned aerial vehicles for Ukraine during a joint press conference with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.
The head of the European Commission described assistance to Ukraine as the 'first line of defense' for the European continent.
Von der Leyen emphasized that investments in drone technologies will not only enhance Ukraine's defense capabilities but also open new opportunities for the European Union in this area.
European Commission to allocate billions for drones for the Ukrainian army
In September, it was announced that six billion euros would be allocated for the production of drones for the Ukrainian military. Funding is planned to be sourced from frozen Russian assets.
The European Commissioner for Defense also called for the creation of a 'drone wall' concept at the EU borders in light of the incident involving the intrusion of Russian drones into Polish airspace. Implementation of technologies already successfully used in Ukraine is planned to create a joint defense system.
The European Union provides Ukraine with financial support for the development of unmanned aerial vehicles to enhance defense capabilities and deepen cooperation with the EU in this important area.
This initiative not only contributes to strengthening Ukraine's military capacity but also demonstrates the European Union's commitment to ensuring stability and security in the region amid current challenges. Cooperation in developing drone technologies could become a crucial step in strengthening the defense of EU and Ukrainian countries, significantly impacting the strategic situation in Europe.
