EU plans to end protection for Ukrainians: the date has been announced.
According to inkorr.com: European countries have spent over 137 billion euros on aid for Ukrainian refugees since the war began. According to Ukraine Support Tracker, by 2025, about 5.2 million Ukrainians who left their country due to the conflict will remain in Europe. The European Union has developed a plan for the gradual termination of temporary protection for refugees, considering two main options: legalizing their stay in the EU or voluntary return to Ukraine. Temporary protection will remain in effect until March 4, 2027.
Leaders in providing assistance
Germany allocated 36.55 billion euros, becoming the country with the largest number of refugees. Poland ranked second, spending 29.3 billion euros on support. The Czech Republic is in third place with 8.05 billion euros, which has assisted 397.3 thousand refugees.
Other European countries are also contributing: Spain, France, Romania, the United Kingdom, Italy, Switzerland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Slovakia, Ireland, Norway, Hungary, Austria, Bulgaria, Turkey, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Latvia, Portugal, Lithuania, Estonia, Greece, Croatia, Cyprus, Slovenia, and Luxembourg.
European countries actively support Ukrainian refugees, providing them with comfortable living conditions and hope for a better future, despite the severe challenges in Ukraine. This contribution is extremely important and demonstrates the solidarity of countries within humanitarian initiatives.
