EU summoned the Russian ambassador over the attack in Kyiv: what was said in Brussels.
According to FREEДOM:
EU condemns Russian aggression
The terrorist attack on the European Union mission in Kyiv is classified as a violation of the Vienna Convention. Russia must urgently stop the violence and initiate peace negotiations. These statements were made by the spokesperson for the European Commission for foreign affairs after summoning the temporary chargé d'affaires of Russia in the EU, Karen Malayan, for explanations regarding the missile attack on Ukraine.
'Clear signals have been given. Firstly, Russia's reckless attacks have led to the deaths of at least 23 people, including four children. Secondly, the damage caused to EU representations is serious and constitutes a violation of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations. The inviolability of diplomatic premises and staff must be respected in all instances. And thirdly, the EU will not cease to support Ukraine. Russia must stop the killings and initiate negotiations,' informed the spokesperson of the European Commission for foreign affairs.
Response to aggression
The High Representative of the EU for foreign affairs, Josep Borrell, summoned the temporary chargé d'affaires of Russia in the EU, Karen Malayan, after the attack that occurred on the night of August 28 in Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities.
It is worth noting that during the night of August 28, Russia launched a massive combined strike on Ukraine, resulting in missile and drone attacks on Kyiv.
These events once again underscore the seriousness of the situation in Ukraine and the international response to Russian aggression. The European Union reaffirms its support for Ukraine and calls for the restoration of peace through negotiations, demonstrating that attacks on peace missions will not go unanswered. The development of the situation will remain under the watchful eye of the global community.
