GETTYThe 55-year-old former wide receiver and Heisman Trophy winner is very pleased with the continuation of his collaboration with the network:
“I am excited to continue this journey with ESPN.”
He added:
“There’s nothing better than showcasing this wonderful sport that we all love, along with my team from College GameDay.”
The president of the channel's content team, Burke Magnus, also expressed his satisfaction with the deal:
“Desmond has played a key role in the success of ESPN and College GameDay for two decades. We are thrilled that the Heisman winner and one of the greatest college football players will continue to analyze and share his insights – and of course occasionally crack a joke – in our coverage.”
Howard has made a lasting impression in football history, becoming one of four men to win both the Heisman Trophy and the Super Bowl MVP. He achieved this accolade when he scored a touchdown on a kickoff return with the Green Bay Packers, helping the team win Super Bowl XXXI.
In 2015, the University of Michigan retired his legendary jersey number 21, as he was the first receiver in Big Ten history to lead the conference in points. Howard set five NCAA records and achieved or matched 12 individual season records for Michigan.
In 1991, he won the Heisman Trophy by the second-largest margin in history, receiving 85% of the votes.
The signing of the new contract with ESPN confirms Howard's important role in the sports world in the USA. His knowledge and experience will continue to enrich the channel’s content, and college football fans look forward to new emotional moments in the programs he hosts. The collaboration in the coming years promises to be even brighter as Howard is a true symbol of American football.
