Members of the European Parliament labeled the arrest unlawful and provocative. Lawmakers have formally requested that European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen review the matter. They emphasized that the detention violates fundamental rights and freedoms, as well as the core principles of European integration. Deputy Andriy Sybiha commented:
