Chelsea let Donnarumma slip for £26 million: Former club player criticizes the transfers.
Morris calls for improvement of Chelsea's defense
According to The Sun: Jody Morris, a former Chelsea player, supports the opinion of the club fans that the defense under Enzo Maresca needs significant improvement.
The Chelsea head coach continues to trust goalkeeper Robert Sánchez despite several mistakes, including a red card in the match against Manchester United.
The situation with center-backs changes frequently due to red cards and injuries, impacting the formation of a stable team.
Crystal Palace captain Marc Guéhi is only available for £35 million this summer, but Chelsea seems to have obviously not tried to sign him or goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, who was sold to Manchester City for £26 million after his future at PSG was in question.
This decision has even sparked disappointment in Morris, who believes that both players would have been an asset to any team.
“When you speak to most people about Chelsea, those are obviously the positions that need to be reinforced more than others,” he said.
“But at the end of the day, Enzo Maresca felt they needed changing, or the management didn’t want to support, who knows?”
Plans for a charity fight
Morris, who once played for Chelsea and spent seven seasons here since 1996, spoke about his plans for a charity fight against former Tottenham player David Bentley.
“I just hope he doesn’t knock me out!” he said.
As part of this event, Morris plans to raise £500,000 for charities like Playskill, Sport In Mind, and others.
The boxing event will also feature fights: Curtis Davies against Petti Kenny, Leroy Lita against David Noble, and others.

Morris, as a former Chelsea player, not only shows concern about the weak defense but also initiates socially significant events to support charity. His plan for the charity fight demonstrates that sports can be a powerful tool for supporting good causes. Chelsea and their fans could learn new lessons from the current situation, encouraging them to actively act in the transfer market to improve the team. Read also
