Tommy Widdrington steps down as manager: reasons for the unexpected resignation.
Tommy Widdrington departs as Alresford Town manager
According to The Sun: Former Premier League player Tommy Widdrington has decided to leave his position as head coach of Alresford Town.
The 53-year-old ex-Southampton player just five months ago won the FA Trophy at Wembley.

He was rushed to the hospital after feeling unwell but quickly returned to his duties.
Tommy thanked fans for their support during this difficult time after the victory in the FA Trophy, celebrated by 18,000 Alresford supporters in May.
“There is no prouder person in this stadium than me. The unwavering support I received during my health issues, and the people in Alresford were incredible.'
However, this wonderful moment did not continue into the new season as expected.
In August, Widdrington was offered a two-year contract following his arrival at the club in 2023.
The team currently sits in 19th place in the National League table and has not won in the last four matches.
Fans have reacted differently to the news, but respect for the manager is evident.
One fan expressed outrage that the club let him go: “A mess! I hope now those who constantly complained are happy. Thank you for the dream at Wembley.”
Another fan sadly bid farewell but felt it was the right moment: “Thank you, Tommy, for everything. You gave us a great moment, for which we are all grateful.'
“This is probably best for us as a club, as results and old problems have been recurring. I wish Tommy all the best in his future.”
This news is also significant for his son Theo, who, like his father, plays for Alresford, having joined the team shortly after Widdrington in 2023.
Tommy also has another famous son, Kai, who is a professional dancer on 'Strictly Come Dancing'.
In addition to his four years at Southampton, Tommy played for Wigan Athletic and Grimsby Town over his 20-year career.

Tommy Widdrington's departure from Alresford Town will be an important chapter for the club, which is trying to regain its form in the National League. A new wave of changes could be a catalyst for restoring past successes that the team achieved under his leadership. The club's next steps will undoubtedly be closely monitored by fans and experts.
