Luca Brecel withdrew from the match due to a borrowed cue: what is known about the scandalous defeat.
Luca Brecel quickly ended the match upon returning to the world of snooker
According to The Sun: Luca Brecel unexpectedly lost in a match that lasted just two frames, after his return to the World Snooker Tour.
The 30-year-old athlete concluded his qualifying match for the Grand Prix in Xi'an against Sunny Akani and left the game during the third frame, trailing 0-2 with a score of 1-40 to the Thai player in Leicester.
Getty X @livesnookerBrecel got up and shook Akani's hand as he prepared for the next shot, indicating to the officials his readiness to finish the match, which consists of nine frames.
This decision, which surprised Akani, was due to the fact that Brecel was playing with a borrowed cue.
In his post on Instagram after the match, he wrote:
“The only reason for this failure today.”
“Due to power issues, I couldn’t play with my cue. Every good snooker player knows how difficult it is to play with a borrowed cue!”
“I started the game with a fighting spirit, but quickly realized that there was no feeling in that piece of wood.”
“The feeling in my hand has been incredible for the past few weeks. This is not at all about everything, but we continue to move forward!”
Brecel turned down the chance to receive a portion of the £850,000 prize fund.
This decision could also lead to financial losses, as in the past players have been fined for ending matches early.
Ronnie O'Sullivan was fined £20,800 when he left his quarter-final match against Stephen Hendry at the UK Championship in 2006.

The former world champion, who has not appeared at tournaments since April, recently admitted that his absence is due to health issues.
After his exit from the Saudi Arabian Masters, he said:
“Hello everyone, some of you may be wondering why I haven't been participating in snooker events since April.”
“The truth is that I am suffering from health problems.”
“My team and I are doing everything possible to emerge from this stronger and better than before.”
“It has been truly frustrating not to be able to travel and compete in tournaments! But... I always try to remain optimistic! Tough times often lead to something wonderful!”
