Ukrainians on Universal Credit: how to receive an additional £28,000 a year.
According to The Sun: Families on Universal Credit can boost their benefits by thousands of pounds a year. Universal Credit is paid monthly to people who struggle with everyday expenses.
But not everyone realizes the benefit can also help them access extra support.
But not everyone understands that this assistance can provide them the opportunity to obtain additional support.
Here are all the ways you can claim extra money – and if you combine them all, it adds up to a huge sum of £28,102...
Claim for free childcare – worth £21,000
If you have young children, you can receive a significant boost worth nearly £21,000.
People who receive Universal Credit and pay for childcare while they work can reclaim up to 85% of their childcare costs.
This includes childminders, after-school clubs, and holiday clubs. If you live with a partner, both of you need to work unless your partner cannot look after your children.
The maximum amount you can claim is £1,739.37, which totals £20,827.44 a year.
Get up to £500 from your council
Councils in England are handing out free cash and vouchers to households in need. The money comes from the Household Support Fund, which distributes £742 million among local authorities.
What you can get depends on where you live as each council decides how it wants to spend the money.

If you are in Worcestershire, you can apply for a £500 payment toward your energy bills.
You will need to meet eligibility criteria, including earning £31,000 or less in the household and having no savings.
Or, if you are in Doncaster, you might receive a one-off payment of up to £300 if you receive certain benefits, including Universal Credit.
You should check your local council's website to ensure you qualify, what assistance you can get and how to apply.
Healthy Start program – worth £442

Help with water bills – worth £480
Water supply companies also offer social tariffs or capped rates for those on Universal Credit and similar support.
Packages vary by provider, and how much you can save will also depend on your usage.
However, there is potential to save hundreds of pounds.
For example, Affinity Water caps bills at £119.50 a year for eligible households.
United Utilities offers up to 50% off bills for households with high usage or medical needs.
Since the average water bill in England and Wales is around £603 a year, this gives you an idea of how much you can save.
Reduced internet and mobile contract tariffs – worth £200
You can often get social tariffs on your mobile and internet contracts if you receive certain benefits.
These “social” or “priority” tariffs offer the same service as regular packages but at a much lower price.
Usually, they have no long-term contracts and guarantee no price hikes during the contract.
Ofcom has a list on its website of all companies offering tariffs for either phone or internet.
You can also take advantage of The Sun's free checking tool.
You could save £200 just on your internet connection by switching to a social tariff, according to Ofcom.
