New Initiatives and Frontline Needs Take Center Stage

During the talks, both sides aligned on pressing frontline needs, particularly the protection of cities from Russian ballistic missiles. Minister Fedorov stressed that
“despite Ukraine regaining the initiative on the battlefield, Russian ballistic threats remain a key danger”— Mykhailo Fedorov. A top priority was the urgent delivery of PAC-3 interceptor missiles through the JUMPSTART mechanism, aimed at shielding Ukrainian civilians and infrastructure more effectively.
Key Areas of Cooperation
Fedorov and Rutte also outlined Ukraine’s defense priorities. The four main cooperation tracks include:
- securing partner contributions to the PURL program,
- expediting PAC-3 missile deliveries,
- obtaining extended-range artillery shells,
- allocating foreign funding for Ukrainian drone production.
The defense minister thanked the NATO chief for coordinating allied efforts, a critical factor under current conditions.
