Withdrawal of tournament participant
Woman athlete Deta Hedman decided to withdraw from the women's PDC series after being paired with transgender star Noah-Lynn van Leven. The 65-year-old athlete was supposed to play against van Leven in the quarter-finals of the tournament on Saturday. However, now the sports veteran will not be competing."I respect all participants, but I believe there are certain issues that need discussion and understanding," she noted. As a result of this decision, especially considering the recent changes in sports policy regarding transgender athletes, new questions arise regarding the participation of different groups in competitions. The discussion around these topics continues, and similar cases draw attention to the importance of dialogue between participants and organizers.
