This is already the third game in a row that Sweden has failed to score, despite the presence of stars like Alexander Isak and Viktor Gyökeres. None of them managed to score during the qualification, and the team must win the upcoming matches against Switzerland and Slovenia to have any chance of the playoffs.

Tomasson preferred the 3-5-2 system, which resulted in Elanga sitting on the bench for the second consecutive time. Swedish media reported that his anger erupted after the final whistle in the tunnel:
