Evans Cycles flagship store in Nottingham is closing: sale announced.
Closure of the Evans Cycles flagship store
According to The Sun: The flagship store of one of the leading British bicycle retailers, Evans Cycles, is planning to close and has started a major sale. This decision is a significant blow to the East Midlands region.
Google GoogleThe store, located on the famous Maid Marian Way in the center of Nottingham, will be closed. The owners, part of the Frasers group, have announced a sale and are offering discounts of 20% on all products, including clothing, accessories, and various types of bicycles, including mountain and electric models.
It is still unclear when exactly the store will close its doors. The Sun has contacted the Frasers group for comments.
More closures in Nottingham
This is not the only store closing in Nottingham. Nearby, on Maid Marian Way, Raleigh also closed its experience center, which ceased operations nearly two years ago, in 2023.
This occurred after the company announced cost-cutting measures.
Frasers Group's struggles
Several other businesses owned by the Frasers group in Nottingham have also closed or are at risk of closure. After almost thirty years, the House of Fraser store in the Victoria shopping center is planning to shut down in October.
In 2022, the CEO of the Frasers group, Michael Murray, described the brand as a 'broken business'.
This comes against a backdrop of numerous closures across the country. In July, the GAME store in the shopping center closed, although other stores like Flannels and Sports Direct continue to operate.

The closure of the Evans Cycles store highlights the challenges facing retail in Nottingham and other cities across the UK. The gradual loss of foot traffic and a decrease in economic activity threaten businesses operating in these conditions. At the same time, given the growing competition and changes in consumer habits, it is important for companies to rethink their strategies for survival and growth.
