Sudan Football Federation President Receives 15-Match Ban
According to The Sun: Yasser Nasreddin Hamza Al-Samani, the president of the Sudan Football Federation, has received a 15-match ban for assaulting a referee during a match.
The incident occurred during a World Cup qualifying match between Togo and Sudan last month.
Instagram @togo_footballThe match between Togo and Sudan ended with an incident involving Al-Samani. Sudan lost 1-0 in Lome, severely complicating their chances of participating in the 2026 tournament.
After the game, Al-Samani was enraged and assaulted the referee.
Assistant coach Ignatius Osei-Fosu also intervened.
As a result, both received penalties from FIFA in the form of bans.
“Al-Samani will miss 15 games for his part in the incident.”
Osei-Fosu also received a three-month ban for “indecent behavior towards the referee,” FIFA reported.
Additionally, both were fined approximately £4,500.
Currently, Sudan is in third place in Group B of the CAF World Cup qualifying, with 12 points after eight games.
Togo is in fourth place with seven points, while the Senegalese team leads the group with 18 points after eight matches, followed by DR Congo.
