Ben Chilwell may leave Chelsea: where will the England international defender go?.
Prospects for Ben Chilwell
According to The Sun: Ben Chilwell has received a new chance in his career thanks to Chelsea's sister club.
The fullback spent the second half of last season on loan at Crystal Palace, where he helped the team win the FA Cup.
PA GettyChilwell, who is 28, seemingly has no future at Stamford Bridge as he is behind Marc Cucurella and newcomer Yurel Hato in the club hierarchy.
The England international may get an opportunity to leave Chelsea.
According to the Daily Telegraph, he has become a target for League 1 club Strasbourg.
Chelsea's owners, BlueCo, also own the French club, which facilitates greater collaboration between the teams.
Chelsea has signed several players from Strasbourg and loaned players to them.
Any permanent transfer with financial compensation will be subject to UEFA and Premier League fairness checks.
Chelsea and Aston Villa have already received warnings about irregular player exchanges following last year's transfers of Ian Maatsen and Omari Hutchinson.
The deal likely includes terms for Chilwell's loan to Strasbourg, with Chelsea covering a larger portion of his £200,000 a week salary.
Strasbourg is not the only club interested in the defender.
Italian clubs Roma and Torino have also expressed interest in signing Chilwell.
Connections to Italian clubs
A move to Torino would allow Chilwell to reunite with Tino Anjorin, a former Chelsea player and academy graduate.
Anjorin left Chelsea permanently for Empoli but joined Torino on loan in July.
Roma has already signed several players from the Premier League this summer, including Evan Ferguson, who moved on loan from Brighton, and Leon Bailey from Aston Villa under a similar agreement.
Chelsea Transfers
Chilwell joined Chelsea in 2020 from Leicester for £50 million.
Since then, he has played 107 matches for the club and became a champion of the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup.
