Former EFL footballer retires from cricket: what was the reason.
According to The Sun: Former EFL striker John Parkin announced his retirement from cricket, marking it six years after he retired from his football career.
Parkin, who is 43 years old, decided to try his hand at cricket after finishing his football career in 2019, but is now leaving this sport as well, admitting that 'he is the worst of all'.
GettyParkin ended his career in a second sport.During his career, John played 340 matches in the EFL, scoring over 100 goals.
After two years in the Northern National League with York City, he started playing cricket.
Recently, he played for the local cricket club Dartfield, but has now retired, marking 133 runs not out in his last match for the second team against Green Moor in the South Yorkshire League.
Openly sharing his reasons for retirement, Parkin noted in a conversation with Barnsley Chronicle:
“I’m bad. I didn’t score many runs, so I decided to call it quits.”
“In November I had a new knee joint, so I really regret 20 runs on the field, I need to score 20 to level up.”
“I only come once a month. I do performances after dinner on Saturday, and the center of Barnsley is now great on Saturday afternoons.”
Parkin also admitted that he might give up golf as well, saying:
“I still play golf, but I’m also mediocre there, so I might quit that too.”
