Amanda Staveley could not hold back tears over touching message from Newcastle fans.
Amanda Staveley's emotional reaction to Newcastle fans' gratitude
According to The Sun: Amanda Staveley could not hold back tears upon hearing a touching message from fans thanking her for her contributions to the development of Newcastle United after her departure.
Staveley, 52, played a crucial role in acquiring the club by the Saudi Public Investment Fund in 2021 and received a 10% stake in the club along with her husband Mehrdad Ghodoussi.

The businesswoman became the face of the club during its transformation from a team battling for survival in the Premier League to a title contender for three years she spent at St. James' Park.
However, last year, former Newcastle directors, including Ghodousi, sold their shares to the PIF fund and the Raabens, who bought 5 percent each, leading to the Saudis now owning 85% of the club.
Staveley affirmed her commitment to the club, stating she will remain a fan 'for life'. This was evident during her recent appearance on the High Performance podcast, where host Jake Humphrey relayed a message from Newcastle's fan page honoring her contributions.
“We appreciate the investments, the progress on the field, and finally the ability to see our club competitive again. But a football club is more than just a business. It's a community, it's family. Families thrive on communication, warmth, and understanding.
Without Amanda, who led this process, Newcastle United risks losing an important connection to its soul – loyal, passionate black-and-white fans.
For the club to find its voice again, to reconnect with fans and bring back the necessary warmth that Amanda Staveley provided so wonderfully.”
Staveley was clearly touched and could hardly hold back tears.
She replied: “This is really hard. Oh God, I’m sorry.”

She added: “It’s really hard because it’s incredibly sweet and that’s why I went to Newcastle, because the fans are just incredible and they truly are.
“Leaving the club was the most difficult decision of my life, and it took me a long time to realize that it was the best decision for the club and that PIF is an incredible partner for Newcastle and the Rubens too.
“We left the club in very safe hands. There are so many wonderful people with big hearts who have invested so much in the club and the community as a whole.
“For me, it was a great privilege. Every day when I went to work, I thought, 'God, I’m so lucky to be doing this job.'”
This came amid rumors of a potential takeover of Newcastle's Premier League rivals – Tottenham. However, her consortium PCP International Finance failed in its attempt to buy the 'Spurs' after the resignation of former club chairman Daniel Levy last week.
