FT learned what Putin wants to achieve in negotiations with Trump.
The Financial Times reports that Vladimir Putin's main goal in upcoming negotiations is to prevent Ukraine's entry into NATO. Kremlin sources claim that Putin wants to change the international order so that there are no threats to Russia. In one interview, a Kremlin official noted that the world is changing and anything can happen.
'He wants to change the rules of the international order so that there are no threats to Russia. He is very concerned about how the world will look after the war. Trump wants to roll NATO back anyway. The world is changing, anything can happen.'
In June last year, Putin proposed to stop the war if Ukraine renounces its ambitions for NATO membership and returns the occupied territories. However, the Ukrainian side rejected these demands. Trump's advisors also have plans to transfer part of Ukraine's territory to Russia and propose a plan that entails a peace agreement.
Vladimir Putin stated that he is ready to discuss the war with the future president of the United States 'at any time'.
