Previously, the company owned 147 stores in the UK, but it has now closed more than two dozen of them.

This occurred after unsuccessful attempts to find a new buyer. As a result of the closures, about 450 employees out of 1500 have lost their jobs.

Nick Holloway, managing director of Interpath Advisory, noted:

“These are challenging times for retailers, as rising costs and decreased consumer spending make business significantly harder.”

“Unfortunately for Bodycare, which also had significant financial shortfalls and a growing burden of creditors, these challenges proved too hard to overcome.”

Bodycare became popular for its affordable prices, offering well-known brands like Lancôme and Rimmel for just 59 pence.

The company, which previously made profits before the pandemic, has faced serious financial difficulties after it ended, suffering numerous losses.

The company's head, Tony Brown, known in the retail sector, previously worked at BHS and Beales.

The company's website states:

“Sorry, the store you are looking for is currently closed. Please try again later.”

These events occur against the backdrop of other retail companies' plans to close stores. For example, River Island plans to close up to 33 stores in January as part of its restructuring, and Poundland will close 68 of its branches. Last month, Claire's announced bankruptcy and suspended online orders, while New Look has already closed about a dozen stores in the UK.

The retail situation remains tense, and similar closures reflect the challenges many brands face in today's market conditions.
