Stu was left unconscious and suffered serious head injuries during the attack, as Jackson slammed him to the ground and began pummeling him.
Security and other wrestlers eventually pulled Jackson away, but by that time, the veteran was left with numerous severe injuries.
In social media posts, Stu stated that he sustained a severe head injury and was unconscious during transport to the hospital, according to the New York Post.
He has damaged jaws, and doctors confirmed a broken upper jaw, leading to the loss of several teeth and a deep laceration on his upper lip.
“He has a long road to recovery ahead, but despite everything, he is in good spirits,” the statement reads.
Tension between the wrestlers likely escalated after a conflict before the event when Stu smashed a beer over Jackson's head.
Video footage showed both wrestlers attempting to reconcile, but the conflict reignited during the match.
A video recording of the attack, which is circulating online, is described as 'too disturbing to show.'
Douglas Malo, a wrestler who tried to intervene, recounted the incident: “I see him slamming [Stu]. I see the first punch and then the second. I would have liked to just jump in.”
“You’re watching someone dear to you being assaulted. These veterans and these people should be loved ... It’s all a lie.”
The KnokX Pro Wrestling Academy, which hosted the event, condemned Jackson's actions, calling the attack “a selfish, irresponsible act of violence.”
“What was supposed to be a pre-planned wrestling element turned into a selfish, irresponsible act of violence against Mr. Smith,” the statement reads.
Stu's brother, Andrew, reported that his brother is conscious and can speak, but he faces a challenging recovery ahead.
