Fourteen clubs offer 'buy now, pay later' programs through services like Clearpay and Klarna.

However, critics warn that fans may spend more money than they have.

Labour MP Stella Creasy, advocating for clear regulations in this area, stated: “No football club should be encouraging people into 'buy now, pay later' schemes until this area is properly regulated.'
“If clubs are so concerned about the affordability of kits, why not just lower the price?”

Only Manchester City, Arsenal, Brighton, Fulham, Bournemouth, and Burnley do not use these payment schemes.

Nine clubs are selling replica home shirts for £85 this year.

When adding customizations like player names or club crests, prices go over £100 in Manchester United, Newcastle, and Liverpool stores.

Tottenham is offering 'elite' home shirts for £125.

The trend of implementing credit programs among football clubs is becoming increasingly common. This is driven not only by the rising cost of club merchandise but also by efforts to make it accessible to a larger number of fans. In light of criticism from politicians and activists, the situation requires careful monitoring and possibly regulation to prevent financial risks for supporters.
