Oleksandr Andriyevsky Reflects on Corruption in Ukrainian Football

According to Novyny.live: Oleksandr Andriyevsky, a midfielder for Zhytomyr's Polissia, has shared personal recollections of corruption within Ukrainian football during his time at the Dynamo Academy. These experiences, he says, shaped how he views the sport and the system in which he developed as a player.

While training at the Dynamo Academy, Andriyevsky encountered several prominent figures, but he singles out Serhiy Rebrov as the coach who had the greatest impact on his career.

“When I was with the reserve team, he brought me up to the first squad. Under him, I got playing time. At that point, I considered him one of the best coaches I ever had,” Andriyevsky recalls.
He also emphasizes that Rebrov was backed by a strong assistant, Raúl Riancho, and that together they led Dynamo to two Ukrainian league titles.

How Coaches Shape a Player's Path

Andriyevsky’s memories of his Dynamo years reveal not only his gratitude toward the coaches and their influence but also the harsh realities of Ukrainian football he had to navigate. This experience shaped him as both a player and a person, giving him a unique perspective on the problems facing the sport at the national level.

His comments on corruption highlight the need for open discussion about issues that hinder the growth of football in Ukraine. Given his time at Dynamo, it becomes clear that even in difficult circumstances, support from true professionals can make a major difference in a young athlete's career. This also points to the urgent need for reforms in the country's sports infrastructure and football governance.
