Gerwyn Price withdraws from the tournament due to health issues

According to The Sun: Darts star Gerwyn Price has decided to leave the Flanders Darts Trophy due to health problems.

According to PDC, the reason for his withdrawal is an "infected hand".

Gerwyn has a problem with his hand that prevented him from participating in the competition.

In a statement from the organizers, it is mentioned:

“Gerwyn Price has withdrawn from the Blåkläder Flanders Darts Trophy this weekend due to an infected hand. As Price withdrew after the tournament had begun, the winner of tonight’s contest between Ryan Joyce and Ricardo Pietreczko will receive a Bye straight into Round Three.”

The situation has raised concerns among fans as Price also had to withdraw from the Player Championship earlier in the week.

He stated that he urgently went to the hospital due to severe inflammation in his hand.

On Tuesday, the athlete shared an update, posting several photos of his affected hand on his social media.

Despite his issues, he looked to be in good spirits while receiving treatment in the hospital.

Price was planning to compete on Saturday, but due to illness, his participation has become impossible.

It is worth noting that he is not the only one who has withdrawn from the tournament: world numbers 1 Luke Humphries, Gary Anderson, and Nathan Aspinall have also declined to participate.

The competition is taking place in Antwerp, Belgium, and this year’s prize fund is £30,000.

This tournament has become one of the new events on the darts calendar, the first version of which took place last year, with Dave Chisnall taking the victory.

Luke Littler still plans to participate

English talent Luke Littler intends to compete in the tournament on Saturday.

The boy recently underwent dental surgery before heading to the tournament.

He admitted that he was 'shocked and crushed' after having a tooth removed, but still intends to play.

Despite health issues among some players, the tournament promises to be exciting, as it features many strong opponents. Will any of the participants claim the title while others battle illnesses? Time will tell.
