Graham Potter could become the new coach of Rangers

According to The Sun: The 'Rangers' club is in negotiations with Graham Potter regarding the possible appointment as head coach. The club's management is considering various options after Steven Gerrard withdrew his candidacy. Currently, the main candidate is believed to be Danny Roll, who is reportedly the favorite to replace Russell Martin.

Gerrard met with the 'Rangers' management in London earlier in the week but stated that he does not plan to return to his former club at the moment. However, he left open the possibility of returning to Glasgow in the future.

After positive negotiations with the club's American owners, Roll became the main candidate. According to information, the former 'Sheffield Wednesday' coach has already formed a team of assistants and plans to invite a former player of the 'Rangers' to support the fans.

However, Roll is not the only coach being negotiated with. The club has also opened negotiations with Graham Potter, the former coach of 'West Ham' and 'Chelsea'.

Potter, 50, has long been on the radar of 'Rangers', as his name was mentioned during the appointment of Philippe Clement in 2023.

It is also known that the coach of 'Wolves' and 'Bournemouth', Gary O'Neil, had negotiations. He has been out of work for almost a year after being sacked from 'Molineux'.

Candidates for the coaching position

Roll is considered the favorite for the position as he impressed the 'Rangers' management during discussions. 'Hearts' coach Derek McInnes is also on the list of possible candidates, but the club does not expect to turn to him.

It is expected that 'Rangers' will have to pay a compensation of around £500,000 if they want to take Roll from 'Gorgie'.
