GUR: First North Korean Units Arrived in Kursk Region.


The first units of the North Korean army, trained at Russian training grounds, have already arrived in the combat zone of the Russia-Ukraine war. This was reported by the official telegram channel of the Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. Ukrainian intelligence recorded the presence of North Korean soldiers in the Kursk region of Russia on October 23, 2024. The training of these military personnel at Russian training grounds is conducted at five different locations, including "Baranovsky" in Ussuriysk, "Donguz" in Ulan-Ude, "Yekaterinoslavsky" in Yekaterinoslavka, 248th in Prince-Volkonsky, and 249th in Sergiyevka. The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine estimates the size of this military contingent moved to Russia to be approximately 12,000 people, including 500 officers, among them three generals from Pyongyang. Russia plans to allocate several weeks for the adaptation of these troops, which it plans to use from the Korean Democratic Republic in the war against Ukraine. Russian Deputy Defense Minister Yunus-bek Yevkurov is responsible for overseeing the preparation and adaptation of the North Korean military. Russia provides these soldiers with ammunition, bedding, winter clothing and footwear, as well as hygiene products. In addition, according to established standards, each North Korean will receive monthly 50 meters of toilet paper and 300 grams of soap. The Kremlin counts on the North Korean military detachment in the war against Ukraine and in the global confrontation with the West.
