Ukrainian depositors are having their accounts closed at a British bank: What is known.
Closure of Halifax branches in September
According to The Sun: Halifax has announced the closure of 18 branches in September, and the addresses that will permanently close are already known.
These closures are part of a broad program to reduce branches, which was approved this year by Lloyds Banking Group, under which some branches have already been closed.
AlamyThe closures will affect towns across the UK, from Castleford in West Yorkshire to Rhyl in North Wales.
Londoners may also face branch closures this month, including a major office in the southwest of the capital, which will close on September 23.
The first branches to close are in Northwich and Skegness — they are set to close as early as Wednesday.
The day after, on Thursday, Wallasey will also say goodbye to its Halifax branch.
Castleford will close on September 8, and on September 10, the branches in Barrow-in-Furness and Brentwood will close.
The next to close on September 15 are Epsom and Morecambe.
On September 16, the branches in Monmouth and Richmond will close.
Thetford will close on September 17, and Long Eaton on September 18.
On September 23, the branches in Rhyl and London (Southwest) will close, and on September 24 in Erdington.
The last two branches to close are Cirencester and Walkden, both on September 25.

What to do if your local branch closes?
People can still access basic banking services without having to travel to another city.
They can visit one of the 11,684 post offices to carry out basic banking transactions; however, these services do not include opening new accounts or taking out loans and mortgages.
Most banks also offer mobile banking, with a bus coming to your area to provide services that are normally available at a branch.
Some banks utilize facilities such as village community centers or libraries to provide mobile banking services.
It is sufficient to contact your bank to find out what mobile services are available and when they may be in your area.
In addition, new super cash machines are being rolled out across the UK at locations where branches have closed to ensure access to essential banking services.
These cash machines allow customers to withdraw cash, check balances, change PINs, and deposit cash.
Which other banks are closing branches?
Santander is closing one-fifth of its branches to cut costs.
Last month, the bank closed seven branches, and three more have lost their cash services.
There are also plans to close about 300 Lloyds branches in 2025 and 2026.
The Bank of Scotland is also closing four branches by the end of the year.
According to the latest data, by December of last year, 64% of the branches that were open at the beginning of 2015 had already closed.
The peak of branch closures occurred in 2017, when 867 premises were closed across the UK — that's more than 70 per month.
In 2018, the number of closures was somewhat lower — 792.
The Halifax branch closures are a significant event for local communities as they can affect the availability of banking services. In many cases, residents may need to seek alternative options for access, which may involve traveling to neighboring towns or using mobile banking services. The situation reflects a trend being observed in many countries, including the UK, in the growing interest in online banking.
