The Original Factory Shop in Spennymoor is on the list of upcoming closures, offering huge discounts on its range.

Notices of closure and sale have been hung in the windows and inside the store.

Discounts of 20 percent apply to men's and women's clothing, as well as footwear.

Toys and board games can also be purchased at a 20 percent discount.

Bags and backpacks are offered at discounts of 50 percent off the original price.

This news has been a big disappointment for locals. One of them expressed: 'So sad, I love this store'.

Others commented on social media: “Oh, I’m sorry, this is the end of an era for everyone, so many good memories with the staff xxx.”

“So sad, wonderful staff. Wishing you all the best in the future, guys.”

Another added: “Oh, no. This is the only store in Spennymoor where you can get everything, it will be greatly missed.”

Since the beginning of the year, the network has already closed more than 30 stores.

Four of them closed last week, including stores in Wetherby, Horley, Spalding, and Otley.

In September, the branch in South York and Chard closed.

The store in Whitchurch, Shropshire, closed at the end of August, having gone through a sale with a 50 percent discount.

The closures occur amid a large restructuring of the network after its acquisition by Modella Capital at the beginning of the year.

Modella is known for its efforts to revive struggling retailers and recently acquired Hobbycraft and WHSmith chains.

The company quickly began reforms to renegotiate leases at 88 stores of The Original Factory Shop.

As part of a serious reform, several unprofitable stores will be closed.

The Original Factory Shop is not the only retailer facing mass closures.

Poundland has also begun sales ahead of the closing of nine of its stores.

The budget retailer closed five more branches last week.

Poundland managed to keep three of its stores that were on the brink of closure.

The popular retailer Claire’s Accessories plans to close 145 stores despite a rescue deal that pulled the brand out of administration.

Exact closure dates may vary, but stores expect to close in the coming weeks.
