TOFS Store Closes Another 5 Branches in the UK: Complete List of Cities.
Closure of The Original Factory Shop Stores
According to The Sun: Large chain of The Original Factory Shop (TOFS) has announced sales due to the closure of several of its retail locations, which will close from today.
Five stores are closing in different cities, including Scotland and Lincolnshire. In particular, the store in March will close on September 27, and the chain is holding sales with significant discounts to clear out remaining stock.
The store in Otley, West Yorkshire, will also close at the end of September with discounts of up to 75% on selected items, such as scarves and accessories.
This will also affect the store in Spalding, as well as stores in Horley and Wetherby, the latter of which will close on October 11.
“We will be closing our doors soon, but we still have promotional offers. With discounts up to 50% on products, come and grab a bargain while you can.”
Some shoppers have reacted negatively to the news, calling it 'very sad'. A local resident shared: “This is really disappointing as it is a good general store that I often use.”
“No, I really liked this store, and the staff are very nice and friendly.”
Another store in Inverness will also close on October 12. A company representative stated:
“This decision was not made lightly and is the result of careful analysis of the store's performance and its long-term viability.”
Previously, 26 stores of this chain had already closed, including locations in Chester-le-Street and Cumbria.

What is Happening with The Original Factory Shop?
The Original Factory Shop was acquired by private investment company Modella Capital in February. The company quickly initiated a restructuring process, reviewing lease terms in 88 stores.
Plans were being developed to avoid bankruptcy, resulting in stores being forced to close 'non-viable shops'.
Retail Problems in 2025
The British Retail Association predicts that rising mandatory contributions will lead to losses of £2.3 billion for the sector.
Research has shown that more than half of companies plan to raise prices in the near future.
2025 is expected to see the closure of around 17,350 retail locations.
