Hobbycraft is one of those stores closing branches
The Original Factory Shop is closing more storesPhysical chains are under significant pressure due to rising operating costs. High energy bills, rent, and increased national insurance contributions for employees are squeezing retailers to the brink. The convenience of online shopping means that footfall is also decreasing. Once-bustling streets are paying the price of disquieting silence.
In a recent casualty of street retail, Claire’s Accessories has collapsed and ceased its online orders for customers.Currently, all 306 stores across the United Kingdom and Ireland are planned to remain open. Poundland will close 68 stores, Hobbycraft has already closed 21 locations this year, and The Original Factory Shop has closed stores with another 28 going under the hammer. All this highlights the tough situation in retail and changing consumer preferences.
