Britons to be paid millions for reporting on neighbors: new tax scheme.
New reward program for informants
According to The Sun: Families can receive millions of hryvnias by informing tax authorities about acquaintances and neighbors as part of a new reward program. Informants who provide information about tax violations may receive up to 30% of the collected tax if their reports lead to a successful investigation.
Similarity to American practice
This scheme resembles practices used in the USA, where tax authorities reward informants for information about tax fraudsters. It aims to encourage citizens to combat tax violations and increase revenues to the state budget.
“This program could become a powerful tool in the fight against tax fraud,” said one of the official representatives.
Currently, discussions are underway regarding the conditions for implementing this program, but there is already a noticeable increase in interest among citizens willing to participate in such an initiative.
The introduction of a reward program for informants could significantly change the approaches to combating tax violations in the country. As a similar practice has already proven effective in the USA, Ukrainian authorities hope that the new initiative will improve financial discipline and reduce the level of tax evasion. This, in turn, should positively impact budget revenue and the provision of social programs.
