The godfather of the fallen soldier embezzled the payment - court ruling.

The Mukachevo City District Court found a man guilty of embezzling state aid funds for the family of a fallen defender of Ukraine. Interestingly, the accused turned out to be the godfather of the fallen soldier.

The court found that the man helped the mother of the fallen Ukrainian hero obtain and process all the necessary documents to receive monetary assistance from the state after the death of her son. From December 2022 to February 2023, the accused unlawfully transferred 6.3 million UAH from the account of the serviceman's mother to his own account and used these funds for personal purposes.

Court Ruling

The perpetrator fully admitted his guilt and is currently in custody at the Zakarpattia Correctional Facility No. 9. The court sentenced him to five years in prison with confiscation of property.
