Anthony Joshua Begins Training: When to Expect Fight with Paul.
Anthony Joshua Ready for Fighting Return
According to The Sun: Anthony Joshua showcased his impressive physical preparation during shadow boxing, getting ready to return to the ring. The two-time world heavyweight champion last stepped into the ring in September 2024, when he suffered a defeat against David Dubois.
RING MAGAZINE ON XJoshua posted a video showing off his great physical condition while shadow boxing outdoors. After elbow surgery in May, he took a break while talks were ongoing regarding a fight with YouTuber Jake Paul.
Paul announced an exhibition fight with WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis, who weighs FIVE STONES less. Joshua's promoter, Eddie Hearn, continues to negotiate with Paul's promotional partner Nakisa Bidarian regarding a possible fight in 2026.
He told iFL TV:
“They want to start preparing for a fight with Joshua for March 2026. But I told him: 'If you lose to Gervonta Davis, I won't be able to organize a fight with AJ.'”
“Gervonta is a 135-pound fighter. Obviously, they didn't think this would happen, but I don't know much about it.”
Joshua, 35, plans to return to the ring in January or February in a preparatory fight before focusing again on Tyson Fury, 37. Fury has already announced his retirement in January after two defeats to Oleksandr Usyk, 38, last year, but hints at a possible return in 2026.
Jake Paul, 28, also fought in the heavyweight division in November, when Mike Tyson, returning at 58, sparked controversy. More than 100 MILLION people watched Tyson lose his first professional fight in 20 years.
