Cancellation of Energy Debts
Hundreds of thousands of people will have the opportunity to settle their energy debts thanks to a new support program initiated by the regulator.According to The Sun: Ofgem plans to cancel approximately £500 million in energy debts that have accumulated among families experiencing financial difficulties, as part of the 'Debt Cancellation' program starting in early 2026. This initiative will assist around 195,000 households.
“This is an important step forward for those struggling with financial difficulties,” noted Ofgem representatives.The 'Debt Cancellation' program is expected to provide significant support for Ukrainian families facing financial hardships due to the unstable economic situation. This initiative is anticipated to improve the lives of many households by relieving them of an overwhelming debt burden.
