PSG Coach Luis Enrique Borrowed Tactics from Rugby: What It Brings to the Team.
Luis Enrique Borrowed Tactics from Rugby
According to The Sun: Luis Enrique paid attention to a new tactic borrowed from rugby to improve the dominant team Paris Saint-Germain.
The 55-year-old coach decided to observe the game not from the sideline but from afar to get a new perspective on his team during a 2-0 victory over Lens on Sunday.
Bein SportsEnrique watched the first half from the press center, returning to the technical area for the second half.
After the match, he explained his decision, referring to rugby coaches who analyze matches from a different angle:
“For some time now, I have been watching rugby coaches who evaluate matches from a very different perspective. I like the opportunity to look for improvements. I wanted to watch the first half from the stands, and it was great. It's different. I can control everything.”
When asked if he plans to use this technique in the future, Enrique added:
“It's an interesting option that I will use going forward. After this, you can have a great conversation at halftime, as you saw who played well on the field. We have a lot of direct information.”
This new strategy proved effective: PSG had six more shots in the second half and allowed the opponent no dangerous moments after the break, unlike two situations in the first 45 minutes.
Bradley Barcola scored goals before and after the break, continuing PSG's perfect start to the Ligue 1 campaign and maintaining first place in the standings.

Coach Injury and Upcoming Matches
It is unclear whether Enrique will apply the same tactic on Wednesday evening when PSG faces Atalanta in their opening Champions League game.
However, it seems the Spanish coach has found a new way of observing that will give his already strong team an edge.
Interestingly, Enrique watched the game with a bandaged arm — a result of a terrible bicycle accident that occurred earlier this month, leading to emergency surgery for a broken collarbone.
