Arslanbek Makhmudov defeats Dave Allen: fight result and challenge to Anthony Joshua.
According to The Sun: Dave Allen suffered a heavy defeat from Russian boxer Arslanbek Makhmudov in a tense fight.
The referee deducted two points from Allen for holding, but even without this formidable opponent secured his victory with scores of 115-111, 116-110, and 117-109.
ReutersIn the first seconds of the fight, Allen hit Makhmudov with his left hook, but this was almost the only notable punch throughout the bout.
Makhmudov, looking powerful, actively attacked, landing numerous blows with his heavy right fist to the Englishman’s face.
Allen, who is 33 years old, initially seemed ready to withstand the pressure and test his opponent's endurance in the second half of the fight.
However, in the second round, he delivered a low shot that caused Makhmudov to stop for a while.
But shortly after, Makhmudov returned to the game and struck Allen with a strong left hook, causing concern among the spectators in Sheffield.
Continuing the fight, Allen was still able to land a few successful punches; in particular, in the third round, he hit his opponent on the chin, which pleased the fans.
Despite the blows received, Allen continued to fight, even after taking a powerful right shot post fourth round.
In the fifth round, he hit Makhmudov with two terrific uppercuts that sent the opponent’s head back.
Fight Situations
In the seventh round, Allen took a lot of punches, combining his aggression with attacks from Makhmudov, who eventually lost one point for holding.
At the beginning of the ninth round, Makhmudov lost his mouthguard after a powerful right punch.
Shortly after, Allen landed another strong blow, causing Makhmudov to stagger and need a breather.
Before the eleventh round, analyst Tony Bellew urged, “Dave, he’s tired, you need to break him.”
However, Allen himself was exhausted and couldn't muster the attack that could change the course of the fight.
Before the final round, Allen admitted to his trainer Jamie Moore, “I’ve already taken too much.”
Makhmudov received another point deduction at the end of the fight but overall won the majority of the rounds.
After the fight, Makhmudov addressed Anthony Joshua:
“Anthony Joshua, I call you out, brother, where are you?”
“I received his word on Instagram that we will fight next year. I’m ready to meet, Anthony.”
Allen, commenting on the defeat, said:
“He is the scariest man I have ever seen, but he has a good heart. Simply put, I'm just not good enough, that's it.”
“He was too big and too strong. This is a bitter pill for me, but it’s okay. I was almost in tears because of the support from people, I haven’t finished.”
“I have never taken and felt this much damage in my life. He hit me about five times, and Jamie wanted to stop it. But I'm a tough fighter, I never go down.”
“I haven’t finished, I haven’t finished. I may not be the best, but these fans make me feel like I'm the best.”
Allen’s defeat showcased how tough boxing is at the professional level and highlighted Makhmudov's power and technique, as he continues to rise in the rankings. This bout also paves the way for new rivalries in the boxing world, including Makhmudov's planned fight with Joshua, which could be significant for both boxers.
