Gerwyn Price won the darts tournament despite not wanting to participate: what happened.
Price's Victory at Players Championship 26
According to The Sun: Gerwyn Price admitted he did not plan to participate in Players Championship 26, but nonetheless claimed victory with an impressive score.
The 40-year-old Welshman was “forced” to compete in the tournament in Germany, but eventually earned £15,000 for his efforts.

If it were up to Price, he would have preferred to stay at home, as he missed several tournaments due to a hand infection last month.
“Well, I didn’t want to be here today and tomorrow,” he said.
“I missed the European tournament last week due to an infection in my hand and had a Pro Tours trip before that.”
Price explained that he feels the need to participate in order to qualify for larger financial tournaments in the future.
“So, yes, I was kind of forced to come here, as I don’t want to miss too much - this can negatively impact me at the end of the year, as Nathan [Aspinall] is currently finding out.”
“I don’t think he is in Players Championship finals yet. If you miss too much, it can affect you, and that will be the case next year.”
“I have won a few titles early on, but then I have to defend them, so that is tough.”

“You have to try to win as much as possible, as early as possible. Then at the end of the year - what is happening now - you can afford to miss a few.”
“But, obviously, I missed the last two weeks, so yes, it was a disappointing moment. I’m glad I won, glad to be here - but I didn’t want to be here.”
Final of Players Championship 26
Price showed resilience not only in recovering from injury but also in the final of Players Championship 26.
The Ikemen took a 6-0 lead early in the game, however, Van Veen rallied back, winning five consecutive legs and reducing the score to 6-5.
Price halted that impressive streak with an 11-dart throw before winning the decisive moment with a 15-dart throw.
The 2021 world champion posted an impressive average of 109.28 in the final, achieving 13 maximums.
“I wanted this. I probably thought about it a bit too much - wanted it too badly,” he said.
“But at the end, what did he take, 164? I thought, ‘Here we go again.’ I missed a few doubles at the end.”Getty
Price weathered a late comeback to defeat Gian van Veen in the final.
This victory adds confidence for Price after a challenging time due to injuries. It also highlights his ability to handle pressure during crucial matches, which will certainly come in handy in future competitions. The athlete is prepared to continue fighting for new titles and solidify his position on the professional stage.
