Luke Humphries is ready for change
According to The Sun: Luke Humphries admitted that he needs to change his 'negative mindset' and try a new approach to achieve success.
On the world stage, he showed true character when he managed to avoid two match darts and beat James Wade 6-5 in a complicated opening of the World Series finals in Amsterdam.
RexPresenting himself in better form, he lost to future winner Michael van Gerwen in the quarter-finals. Despite this, Humphries acknowledges that he feels uncomfortable on the big stage.
“I don’t feel comfortable throughout the whole game, to be honest,” he says.
Regarding the match against Wade, he noted: “I was changing my flights, trying to calm my mind and become more comfortable.”
“Right now, I am just dreaming of trying new darts, tips, flights and stems - just trying to find something that will work.”
He also added: “This negative attitude is not what I am used to. But I feel that at this stage of my career, I am ready to try something new.”
Plans for the future
“Next year, after the World Championship, I plan to change my approach. The same style, the same parameters, but I will use different options, as this configuration may have run its course.”
“I know that I have the potential to compete with great players like Luke [Littler] and others,” emphasizes Humphries.
“I have achieved a lot being a decent player, but I feel that I can achieve even more.”
“Now, I need to act before it's too late to discover something truly special.”
Luke Humphries continues to take his career seriously and emphasizes the importance of changes that can significantly influence his future successes.
