The weight loss medication Mounjaro helped a woman save £600 a month.
A life-changing experience thanks to Mounjaro
According to The Sun: Grace Parkin, a mother of one, is amazed at how her financial situation has changed thanks to the Mounjaro medication. She shares that the weight loss injection has helped her lose 9 stone (about 57 kg), dropping her size from 26 to 12, while halting her monthly expenses of £1000 on 'boring purchases'.

The journey to weight loss and financial stability
The real estate manager from Sheffield became interested in surgical weight loss methods but decided to try Mounjaro in May 2024 as a less invasive option for shedding extra pounds. At the start of her injections, Grace weighed 17 stone 9 pounds, and now — 10 stone 7 pounds and wears a size 12.
She claims this medication, which she continues to take, has not only helped her control her eating but also reduced her spending. Previously, on luxury items like clothing, restaurants, and alcohol, she could spend up to £1000 a month.
“I used to be an impulsive consumer. I spent anywhere from £600 to £1000 on entertainment. I would just buy shoes — trainers, Uggs, boots,” Grace shares.
“Two or three times a week, I would come home with bags from the mall. I was looking for a medication that would give me speed and adrenaline,” she adds.
Now, Grace has reduced her spending to £600 a month. “If I need something, I buy it, but I no longer shop out of boredom,” she says.
Expense control
Grace notes that she used to buy things on a whim — clothes, vacations, food, and alcohol, but now purchases only what is necessary. She says she doesn’t try to control her expenses; this has happened naturally.
“I put money into my account that I thought I missed a payment on,” Grace emphasizes.
Previously, she spent about £160 on groceries, but now it’s only around £50.
“Now, I don't go into the store and look at chips and desserts,” she adds.
Grace mentions that she has faced criticism for her choice of weight loss medication. But she believes, “why remain unhappy?”
“When I say I struggled with obesity and used medication, people say: 'you're cheating',” she emphasizes.
